Bush’s Cronnies Strike Again!
March 31st, 2007Just when you thought the ineptitude of appointed officials couldn’t be topped another one of GW’s appointees has now cost YOU, the American taxpayers 100 million dollars. That’s right folks 100 million bucks flushed right down the toilet!
Just to make matters worse the idiot that cost you and I this money is one of the newly appointed US Attorneys! You know them, these are the clowns Bush and Attorney General Gonzales put into office when they fired those US Attorneys for political reasons! The ones that had the AMAZING service records! In what has become the norm for GW and his staff they have ousted talented, dedicated and highly qualified personnel and replaced them with incompetent buffoons! In a ruling this past Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman the US Treasury now has no means, or rights to collect 100 million dollars from admitted tax evader Walter Anderson.
This time the mistake comes in the form of a plea agreement that was prepared so poorly that Judge Friedman was forced to throw it out. The mistake could have been avoided by simply including a STANDARD probation clause in the plea agreement. Basically all such plea agreements are require to have a clause that maps out the conditions for probation once someone is released from their jail term. US Tax law would then allow the court to order restitution of taxes but only as part of Anderson’s probation. But prosecutors cited the wrong law. They cited a law relating to fines rather than restitution in the plea agreement.
So now the IRS will have to ‘jump through hoops’ to find ways to collect this money and some doubt it will ever be collected! All I can say is “nice job folks” …… a financial mess handled in typical hurricane Katrina fashion! Keep appointing these bozos!
